I was too young for "The World" and "Casablanca", but certainly remember partying at the other two. Since you are on this topic, how about "The Martinique", "The Mailbox", and the "Stage Door"? I have heard of another that was in the Victory Theater, but can't remember the name of it. I've been told that you would knock on the door, they would view you through a peephole, and let you in if you passed muster. How times have changed!

The Shamrock was on the North West corner of Xenia and Hulbert St. Ussed to eat lunch there back in the early 60s, when I went to Lincoln School. As for dancers, I don't remember faces, except for one, from the Living Room.

OSD, you seem to remember several of the clubs of that era. I wonder if you remember “The Talk of the Town” on North Main Street or any of the girls who worked there. There was one named “Gabrielle” from Middletown. I was pretty good friends of the owner at that time.

Went to the she in the early 70's. I was 16,looked 14,but had a fake ID. I went with a very large football player from osu who happened to being wearing a ball cap. They had a board with the proper Attire required but it didn't mention hats. Doorman took a marker and hand wrote "And No Hats" on the board. My friend took off his hat and danced he night away. He went on to play in NFL for about 10 yrs. By the way I usually went on Sunday nights, $3.50 for all the watered down beer you could stomach.

The club mentioned earlier, currently called Diamonds, had several names before that including Obediahs, Voyager, and Safaris. But the original name when it was first built and opened in 1975 was Bailiwiks. The first band to play there was Tangent, a Dayton band that was also playing the southern club circuit at the time, based in Atlanta.

The only night club that I remember from JohnC's list is the Dixie Electric Company. It later became Bourbon Street (I think).
I also remember Obadiah's Beanery out on 725 in Centerville. I managed to get in a few times when I was 17 using an older friend's (he was 18) drivers license. The doorman would check his ID and stamp his hand. He'd then come back out to the parking lot and give me his ID. After he went back inside, I'd get in line and the doorman would check "my" ID, stamp my hand and let me in. Luckily, we resembled one another enough so that we had no problems using this method.
If I remember correctly, Obadiah's would also honor the driver's licenses issued by Malibu Gran Prix.
Does anyone remember Tripplet's White Lightning? It was owned by Bill & Birdie T and located on Woodman Dr. next door to the A & W root beer stand. I think it was called the Purple Haze before it became the WL.

Yeah, I remember Sweetwater. The owner of the company I worked for in 78-79 threw a Christmas party there. All you could eat buffet; however, because I was under age at the time...no booze :(
Well, maybe 3.2% beer...don't really remember...

I went to Silvers a lot. They had great local bands like, Spitin' Image, Dayton Yellow Springs Band, McGuffy Lane. It was always crowded. As I recall, a then City Commissioner "Abner Orick" had something to do with them closing down. Some type of permit issue.

Believe The Rhino was on Ludlow. Rendevoux club on Salem is where HBomb Ferguson and his band played. McGuffys still open and doing about the same thing they always did. Does anyone on here remember a guy named Randy Kimura? He was a drummer in band but cant remember the name of it. Very tall good looking man with black hair down to his waist. Loved hard rock and heavy metal. He stood out in a crowd because of his height. Spent a lot of time at Mcguffys. He has since passed away but those who knew him still remember him because of his kindness and generosity.

My dates would take me to the many Dayton Jazz Clubs and Concerts. I remember the Rhino Resturant and nightclub in downtown Dayton in the 70s. Use to have live world known jazz musicians there. Very plush atmosphere. People dressed up back then. Miss men in suits, hats, and nice shoes. Oh well........

Back in the 70s is when Gilly's had lots of real Jazz musicians from around the world. McCoy Tyner was a regular there as were many others. With the concerts and social balls always being held at Wamplers and O'Hara Arena....Wow, Dayton was the town to party in.

Does anyone remember the name of the lounge in the Dayton Marriot by NCR in the 80's. Seems like servers wore tunics. I'm really enjoying the posts--brings back many good memories of my 20's

jcb - I remember the lounge, but I've forgotten the name. A girl I used to date ended up working there, wearing one of those maroon-colored tunics that you remember.
I can still remember the night that I met Paul Leonard there, Dayton's "Rock-n-Roll" mayor.

jcb - Apparently, the bars at the Marriott still go by the same names. Gambit's was the inside lounge that you remember, and Sharkey's is the poolside lounge with live music on the weekends.

What was the name of that bar across from Elder Beerman on Main Street in North Dayton?
It was just south of Forest Park.
It was a small bar and I remember being in there from time to time?

Although even though Max and Erma's probably never promoted itself as a "Nite Club" back in the mid/late 70'S, it was a unique restaurant. If I remember correctly, by day and late afternoon it was mostly a family establishment. But by early evening, (8pm?) children weren't allowed and the atmosphere changed to a place for people to dance upstairs, meet others and or just go to eat and drink. There were phones on the tables that the customers could use to call someone (somewhat anonymously) they noticed at another table and flirt, hit-on or just talk. Sounds corny? I remember the Max and Erma's on Kings Ridge Dr being very crowded on Fri/Sat Nites till closing.

Does anyone remember The Roadrunner Lounge in beavercreek. My late grandfather, Bill Edwards, ran and performed there in the late 70's. He played with his band "the American Way". Any memories or stories would be appreciated. I sure do miss him.

Sounds like we're talking about same place, once in there was enough for me. At the the time I looked like a 70s stereotypical longhaired hippie type, it was obvious I wasn't their kind of people. Wasn't as bad as the "Crystal Pistol", but once was enough there as well.

I was a bouncer/bartender at The Shed. I rememember it was next to a Red Barn burger place and that you had to walk between 2 buildings to get in. (Parking was in the back). I remember the stuffed dog by the fireplace but I don't remember having live bands there, just a jukebox. I remember the chief bartenders name was Snacko and the waitress was Julie.

I remember The She. I was there when the McCoys played "Hang on Sloopy". They had drink and drown night every Sunday night at The She. It was $5 for all the beer you could drink. Good times. I even pretended I could dance to the disco, it was so much fun. I'll never forget those days. Wish the bar was still there.

Can anyone tell me the name of a bar/club that was located on the north side of Watervliet Ave, west of Smithville? They had live bands and food, Dixie Peach played there. The club was located in the east end of a building that housed Ballweg hardware, and then later a funeral home went in where the club had been, then Hazy Shade moved in where the funeral home had been, and now the building is vacant.
