Anybody remember the band Green Lyte Sunday from the Livingroom. Played a lot of Doobies. How about Dixie Donut the other side of the traffic circle-or Brawleys for breakfast at 2:30 am. on Needmore?

Does anyone remember Little Mickey's on 4th Street ? It was there in 1967 but I don't know if it survived inti the 70s or 80s. I kind of doubt it. Also there used to be an off campus bar near University of Dayton called The Bookstore. It was run by a couple of guys one of which was Pat Flanagan. I think I still owe him or his partner $5.

I remember Little Mickey's but I was only in there a couple of times, probably 66-69 as I wasn't 18 until late 65. I also remember the bars around UD. I hung out at Timothy's, S of Ray Bryant Chevy, the Shed heading the other way toward downtown and the Bookstore but I can't place it's location. Of the 3, Timothy's was the main one. Had Wed beer night. My main places were the Diamond Club and the Lions Den and very rarely the She in Forest Park.

As far as I can remember The Book Store was on Irving Avenue just by the railroad that went by the football stadium. That might all be changed by now. I was last there in 1977 and the place was used as a printing works. The other partner was a guy called "Sparky" Evans. I used to go to Timothy's sometimesd but usually the Book Store. I was an international exchange student working at National Cash and used to work bar at the Book Store for free beer. It was only 3.2 so the chances of drowning were higher that the chances of getting drunk!

JR, I think Pat Flanagan is still around and owns Flanagan's on Stewart Street. I used to go there for lunch quite often but haven't been in there for 4 or 5 years.

I well remember the LT club. It was a big barn of a place. I remember dancing the whole night away. I think that most of the action took place in the parking lot. All I know is that when there were breaks there was no one left in the bar. lol Little mickeys was also a great place downtown. I lived at the loretto at the time and it was close to me. I went to Mickeys around 67-68. Great memories in both bars.

Completely - Yes, the LT club was like a huge barn. Remember how they had projectors showing huge psychodelic waterfall like patterns on the walls? It was also the first time I saw a strobe light. That was so cool (as long as you hadn't had too many) when they turned all the lights off except the strobe. And YES, the parking lot was pretty busy between sets HA HA. So was the parking lot at the Diamond Club. But driving a vette tended to limit the parking lot partying.

I have amazing memories of McGuffy's. The owner back in the day was a guy named John Knuass, he was one hell of a businessman. The bar had multiple personalities, and I doubt too many other men could have pulled it off like John did. It was semi-respectable place to eat lunch for the WPAFB crowd durung the week, and was a great sport bar with dozens of TV to watch football on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Great nachos!

At night, however, the place took on a very different feel as it catered to bikers and headbangers, lots of fights and police. (Once saw a guy throw a bar stool through the huge mirror that hung behind the length of the bar.) Other nights, he'd bring in big name bands, bands that were usually either on their up or on their down, and pack the place. The bar was full of rock music memoribilia, the majority of it signed by the various musicians who played there.

McGuffy's was probably best known for hosting WTUE's annual "St. Patrock's Day" party, in fact I still have one of the "TUE Green Weinee" condoms they handed out at the door. St. Patrick's Day seemed to be the one day there was a real cross-section of the bar's multiple customer bases in the place at the same time.

Last I heard, John was in the British Virgin Islands, word was he sold the bar and headed to the Carribean one step ahead of the IRS. Don't know if that's true, but where ever he is, I'm sure he's making money!

Remember the pictures that they used to show on each side of the dance floor at the She? Wonder whatever happened to those. If you don't remember, someone went around taking random group shots and flashed them on the wall.

Yep, the SHE was around back of the Forest Park Shopping Center. The place had several different names and I'm not sure what the last one was. I moved to FL in Jan 72 but came back to Beavercreek in Sep 72 to help my folks move to FL. I went to the place then and I think it was called the SHE. At least I know the place was still open in Sep 72.
What amazes me is the Parkmore on the corner was one of my main hangouts and many times a Friday and Sat night, I made the circuit between there and Frisches on Keowee but Parkmore shut down before I left Dayton and Jan 72 and I have NO rememberance of one of my favorite places closing and becoming I believe a Ponderosa??

Think we could get a few of the car guys on here to meet Sat or Sun evening for a beer and some wings or Marions Pizza?

Trudi and the Hoople Street Exit??!!

It was the late 80s before I knew Joni Mitchell did a version of "Chelsee Morning". I was in LA on a business trip and heard her version of the song. I remember thinking it was not as good as "the original".

I also went to UC in the late 70s, hated seeing that "Hoople Street Exit" sign on US 75 every September heading back to school.

Anyone remember Wilmington House South on Wilmingtom Pike at corner of Valleywood in Kettering? I lived around the corner near Woodman Dr. and could hear all the music until place closed for the night. Believe they had live bands and a singer I recall named Jerri Diamond used to perform there.

I lived east of Dayton and there were lots of people from dayton who came to the Coconut Lounge and danced the night away with frankie Valle, Gladys Night and the PIPs, the turtles and lots more. This was in the late 50's and 60's. My mother worked the ticket booth and my sister and I helped with food and tables and chairs. As soon as everyone was in the lounge, we had to leave...We have a lot of fond memories.

My Parents owned the Aztec Lounge, which was next to Varsity lanes at 75 & Main St. I'll never forget my Dad wearing his Aztec Lounge jacket for what seemed like forever when I was growing up. I'm only 36 years old, and so I vaguely remember it. I do have a picture of the score sheet from the bowling alley, which has my Mom on it in an advertisement for the bar, which again, was right next door. They still own bars to this day, but that was their first......

Anyone remember the name of the niteclub that was just down the street from the Beermans on Sebinthaler next to that cinima and I believe there was a drive-in across the street.
That club had an entertainer (Sonny I think) who did DOO-Woop?

Yep, it was the Forum. And the drive-in was the Salem.
At the Forum there was an elderly female comedian who played there quite often. Do any of you remember her name? Or the name of the band? Or the name of that cinema next door?

I am surprised that I can not remember.

Th Rhino was a safari themed restaurant on the corner or 3rd or 4th and Ludlow. They had about 30 different kinds of hamburgers. We ate lunch there a lot. That was in early 70's. Not sure what happened to it after Jan 72 as I moved to FL.

The She was right behind where I worked at Stump's on Shoup Mill, so I went there a lot. Obediah's and Sylvers was frequented quite a bit, too. When I moved to Dayton in 1980 I first went to a bar in Kettering owned by Big Barb. There was a band playing there called Hot Number. A few weeks later the same drummer was on the stage, but the rest of the band was completely different and called theirselves the Lovers.
