We loved that pool as Children. My mom would drop us off at the pool and we would stay all day. We lived on Hadley in KEttering, and the pool was on Irving. I remember the big black intertubes, diving board, snack bar. We went to the pool in the 60's. Now there is apartments on top of the pool. The little league is still across the street. Does anyone remember the Wonderly Wading Pool off Shroyer Rd on Wonderly Ave? We loved it there also. Big sandboxes, tetherball. now it has changed alot with all new equipment. I took my grandsons there a few years ago. It seemed so neat taking my grandkids there. Christopher Club was a private pool. I was a young teen around 1966 when we joined. They had dances on different nights with a band. I think the Critters(Younger Girl) came and played. They were great. Was anyone on here a member of the Christopher Club? I would love to hear of some that had been to these pools.

Once Kettering Pool was opened, I didn't take the bus to Oakday any more. I could ride my bike to the Kettering pool, though it was a long ride. My younger siblings walked to Wonderly Park to play in the wading pool. We lived on Wehrly Ave., about a mile away. Wow, today I wouldn't let two little girls walk alone for a mile each way to a city park. What a lose.

My grandmother bought us a family pass to Oakday pool for Christmas every year in the late 50's.I remember it was open from 1 til 9 every day. We lived on Illinois Ave. in Walnut Hills so it was a long walk but we didn't care a bit. My brothers and I would leave about noon and get there when they opened. We would stop at the ice cream place and buy a cone on the way! I remember how bouncy the 10 ft. diving board was and how afraid I was of the 20 ft. board.I climbed all the way up,walked to the end and couldn't jump! I just stood there while everyone behind me yelled for me to "just jump".Finally one of the lifeguards made everyone climb back down so I could get down.Boy was I embarassed!Never tried again......

I grew up at Oakday Pool...from the late 50's to 66, at which time I was drafted into the damn Army...but got a season pass almost every year for like $19 or $11 or some such bargin...learned to swim and dive there, learned to interact with girls there...rode my bike from way out Patterson Rd in Belmont and didn't think twice about it. I loved doing a swan dives off the 20'er...never saw boards like that again also the 15'er right next to it. I still have memories of summer loves as I came of age...such a simple time. Que Sera Sera played over the outdoor speakers and Paul held down the front desk. He was probably about 25 but seemed like 90 and drove a Rambler with a bubblegum machine on it and a big antenna attached...such a cool cat.

Wonderly Park is still going strong and take my grandchildren in the summer. Small pool gone but they have added a splash area. Amazing how long that park has been there as my sisters and I would be taken by my mother back in the 50's. Also would go to Walnut Hills to wade around. Oakday pool was also a big thrill when we became jrs. and would make the walk from Kettering down to that area. On a few occasions would go to Phillips pool, but most often it was Old River. Could meet new kids from all over the city just by going swimming.
