How about the 501 Club at Main and Mcpherson, Riverdale Bar the next block down, there was one or two more on the same side of the street as Simon Cadillac, north of the dealership.

Russ's mkt was right next door to 501 before they built the new store next door at 515 n.main st.. this time russ's actually had a parking lot..

The abstract lounge at main and grand, across from from renault of dayton dealer ship. there was the varsity bowling alley and a laundromat then the abstract lounge.. i know you remember that.. the abstract was a go-go bar..behind that was hawthorn school, go figure.. I alway's had a lot of extra newspapers from my route because my neighbor was our route manager, and he would give them to me so he wouldnt have to take them back downtown.. so i would trade them for the fresh donut's at russ's mkt, bob would pay .10 cents for the donuts from the donut guy, and bob sold the donuts for .15 cents. but, he would sell the newspapers for 30 cent's. then i would sell the donuts that i got for free to george zavokos who owned the varsity bowl for .25 cents.. and he would sell the donuts to the bowlers in the morning leagues for .40 cents.. The nespapers never cost me one red cent.. not bad for a eleven year old kid.. we all made money.. Bob at russ's mkt ordered more and more donut's.. The donut guy loved that...

I remember the Red Barn, lots of hamburger and shakes eaten there.
I remember most everything you mentioned in your post but I cant remember the abstract lounge. I am sure my brothers kew the place. I-75 stopped at Main St, I had a buddy who sold papers at that corner, he made a killing with it. I would meet him there after I did my route in the summer, then get into anything we could. The Chili King and Bowman was not there when I was. The barber shop was owned by 2 guys, one of them comitted suicide. Several doors down from that was a hardware store with wood floors and on the corner before Renault tore it down was Mooseburger Drug Store. I went to Hawthorn K-8, there was a building next to it that was a Rec center.
