I am posting this request to ask if by any chance does anybody have any PICS or INFO on the following:
Back in the late 70's / early 80's--
1. There was a Goldman's and Cassano's Pizza King in the shopping center on N. Gettysburg Ave. / Kings Hwy in Dayton (where the Family Dollar and Save A Lot now is).
2. There was a Gold Circle on Salem Ave. in Trotwood (where Value City used to be and Burlington Coat Factory now is). And pics of Value City would be great too.
3. There was a Rinks / then Hills on Salem Ave. in Trotwood (where Big Lots now is) . 4. Any pics of the SALEM MALL.
5. The Dayton Roller Drome Skating Area on Nottingham Rd. in Dayton (Harrison Township).
6. The Siebenthaler Ave. Movie Cinema (between Klepinger Rd. and Philadelphia Dr.) The bldg. is still there.
7. The Salem Ave. / Siebenthlaer Ave. Drive In. (where Kroger's now is)
8. Children's Palace (where RTA Bus Hub now is)
9. Any pics when the Dixie Drive In / Sunday Flea Market was the place to be. People / vendors as far as the eye could see. (both still there, just nothing like they used to be)
Anything would be great......thank you so much to everyone for all you have posted. Will keep looking daily at all the updates.
Sincerely, Sherry SJeffries@harrisontownship.org

I remember Goldmans and Cassanos on Gettysburg. I worked for Fazio Foods (former Goldmans) there from 1970-1973. Cassanos was still there and there was a cocktail lounge in between them, 'Thirsty I' I think. Another business may have been in there, I don't remember other than the Western Auto store on the corner.

I believe there was a candy store between goldmans and fazio's , dont remember the name though. Bargain barn before goldmans was a block north and on the other side of the street on the corner of gettysburg and prescott behind the gas station.

SJeffries - The theater on Siebenthaler was Cinema North. My yougest daughter worked there when she was in high school.
We'd take the kids to the Salem Drive In often as it was cheap entertainment and only a mile from our house. I know there is at least one photo of the Salem on this site and also one or more of the Dixie. Just do a site search.

mjr1960>> that's probably right. I used to go over to Cassanos for lunch and I knew there was something else between the 2 stores, couldn't recall.
