So Brown St has changed so much. You really cannot recognize it.
Does anyone remember the Mom and Pop restaurants that once were on Brown? They recently tore down the Burger King that had been there since the beginning of time.
I remember a Mexican restaurant in the 80's "Black Bull". Maybe it was something else.
there were many Chili places as well.

Back in the late 60's coming from the South I remember Timothys, then Ray Bryant Chevy then on the corner was a Parkmore? then an Arby's with a bowling alley across the street then the Shed. All I remember. On S Main I believe was an Italian restaurant right across the street from the fairgrounds. I worked for McCalls Computer center on UD campus and we would go there or the Parkmore for dinner (worked evening shift). Where was Stuart and what street when up through all the NCR buildings??

...Or Duke's Golden Ox across from the fairgrounds. Also, there was a Frisch's on Stewart St., closer to UD. I can't place the Parkmoor.

It might have been a Frisch's. I'm guessing it was on the SE corner of Stewart & Brown?? I worked up the hill on UD campus.

Brown Street sure has changed a lot- I lived on Hickory St. (off of Wayne Avenue, at the far north end of the South Park neighborhood) and used to walk over to Brown Street almost every day in the late 1990s, and it has changed almost immeasurably just since then. It has some character left, in a few spots, but for the most part, it's becoming homogenized, like lots of other places. Great memories, though.

I worked at Frank Z which was Ray Bryant in the 60's and Rubicon Cadillac, which is a post office now. The Black Bull was a little mexican joint across from the NCR building on Brown. Brown St was a mess to drive in around 3:30 when NCR was getting off work. I did find the Sub House on Brown, think its still there and was the orginal.

Wasn't Timothy's right next door to Milano's? They had one night during the week. Thursday? Bucket of beer night. You got an actual bucket of beer! This was back in the 80s.

One summer, while I was in college (Ohio U.), I worked at the Gulf station at the corner of Brown and Wyoming. The gas station is long gone - it looks like there is a Taco Bell there now.

It was a fun summer job, back in the era when there were still Full Service stations (or at least, some Full Service pumps). I encountered many interesting, colorful, and/or bizarre characters that summer, some of which are still in my memories all these years later.

For perspective, I was working there when gas first went over $1.00 per gallon (1981?). Our pumps couldn't handle $1.00/gallon gas, so for a while, we had to sell gas by the 1/2-gallon.
